Through the past ten years in law enforcement I have lead, instructed, and supervised many people. While serving in the military I was afforded the opportunity to attend several institutions such as the University of Chaminade, Wayland Baptist University, and the University of Phoenix. After my separation from the military I attended Central Arizona College and then transferred back to the University of Phoenix. Each individual is different. Therefore, you have to know the person first in order to apply a teaching style. Age, gender, and subject matter are some elements that influence how a person learns. Some people learn visually, some people learn by practicing, some people don't want to learn. My style varies according to the individual and what he or she likes or dislikes. I have tutored through the organization Literacy Volunteers in Flagstaff and Lake Havasu. Additionally, I tutored English in a refugee camp in Zambia, when I was with the Peace Corps. While living in Bangladesh, I tutored adults and children in English, as well as other subjects. I taught for three years in Bangladesh at International Turkish Hope School. My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear.
