A Little Bit About Me...

With the combination of my education and my work experience, I have developed a strong understanding languages and communication. I have received two Bachelor's degrees: a BA in English and a BA in German. I have also spent time overseas, teaching English as a second language, and experience which has helped me develop the skills to commmunicate not only the "rules" of the language (proper usage, grammar, etc.) but also to help my students develop the abilities to determine on their own how it should be used.
Since each person has his or her own way of learning, I like to be creative with teaching in order to find a style that best suits the student's needs. I have the natural ability to relate to kids of all ages. I was a waterpolo coach for five years, and a volunteer mentor for the Blue Ox School in Eureka. I tend to be straight forward and open with the kids about why the authors wrote the books, what they wanted their readers to get out of them, and how these authors weaved lessons into a classic storyline.
