My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. A Little Bit About Me...

One of the most rewarding experiences of my life was the time I spent tutoring at the Literacy Council in Grove City, Pa. Taking someone who could not read, teaching them one-on-one phonetically and then hearing back from one of the council officials that the person had passed the literacy exam with flying colors made me immensely happy.
