I taught university chemistry for many years, especially the math-heavy courses. After retirement, a friend asked if I would assist a home-schooling family in the sciences. My formal experiences as an educator began as an intern at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary where I educated visiting students on natural history and biology. This was when I realized how much I enjoyed teaching and the mutual learning environment. Since then I've had the opportunity teaching at the middle grades (full-time teacher at a local middle school), high school (through a fellowship at a local university), and college level (as an instructor at a local university). My teaching style, is to find the way the child learns best. Math can be taught thru several different methods or strategies. I really enjoy children and have found that it is just a minor thing or so that causes them to not like math, but when they see that there is more than one way to solve problems they change their minds. I reallly do feel that one on one teaching does help students to grasp the information, then they are more apt to show off their new found skills.
I currently am employed by the Chatham County School System as a long term substitute and as a Math Resource teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a double major from Fairfield University where I was involved with volunteer groups that tutored middle school aged children from surrounding areas. Over the years I have also spent time as a nanny and have been in charge of homework and school projects.
