I taught high school social studies for 26 years at Tates Creek High School, primarily as a psychology teacher. I also taught a year at Tates Creek Middle School in the areas of Citizenship and American History. Since retiring, I spent five years as a substitute teacher in the Fayette County system, teaching everything in the areas of math, science, social studies, English and also in a variety of elective studies- from creative writing to geometry and history to earth science. This past year, I volunteered as an all-purpose weekly tutor for a fifth-grader at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary. I enjoy teaching and helping young people grow and gain personal confidence. I believe in learning about each student, helping him or her become comfortable with the subject matter and then guiding the student to reasonable learning proficiencies.
