For just over a decade I have been involved in some form of peer education or mentoring. As a senior in high school, I tutored students in mathematics and science. As an ACS Certified Chemist, I have been exposed to upper level mathematics, chemistry and physics, but am still required to use writings skills in preparing various reports and papers. As a substitute teacher, I worked on developing a good rapport with the students. And was always willing to assist them in working towards understanding the concepts before them. My teaching style is very simple, but effective. I merely talk to the student to find out where he or she is having difficulty, and work to find ways to remedy the problem. We will go over the concepts and do some exercises that will help to answer questions and deepen understanding of the source material.
I am a William and Mary graduate with a BS in Chemistry, with several years of programming experience from developing my own computer games. In addition I performed laboratory research at the College of William and Mary for a thesis and have 2 years of experience tutoring in Elementary Spanish, Computer Science, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.
