A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring for the past 10 years before and after school both privately and group settings. I am a public school teacher now and would like to tutor after school for the 2013-2014 school year. I usually get a student in first grade and the student keeps working with me until third or fourth grade. I use a hands on approach and am especially good with LD and Add students. A Little Bit About Me...

For just over a decade I have been involved in some form of peer education or mentoring. As a senior in high school, I tutored students in mathematics and science. As an ACS Certified Chemist, I have been exposed to upper level mathematics, chemistry and physics, but am still required to use writings skills in preparing various reports and papers. I've always believed that children learn by doing. I would rather have my students get real hands-on experience because concepts can be better attained and understood if children get real experience with it. I also believe that children learn differently from one another and a teacher should be able to accommodate the different learning styles of her or his students. One method may not work for a student, so I feel that it is the teacher's responsibility to make sure each student reaches their full potential by finding ways that will work for her/his students and then incorporate these differences in the classroom.

My experiences have spanned all ages and types of children's learning abilities. From a church setting, to a public school to a driver training car. As a financial services professional for over 10 years, I really enjoyed working one-on-one with my clients to help them meet their financial objectives.
