I am truly passionate about working with children and helping them learn. I am patient with each child I work with. I hold them accountable for their own learning and success. I am not looking for them to always get the answer right, but rather to think and try 100% of the time. Sometimes we just don’t know the answer and that is ok. After over 20 years of experience I know that children are different and possess unique qualities and various skills. They learn at different rates, have different interests and sometimes need different approaches to teaching. I know all children can learn and it is a joy to see that learning take place. I have usually used a developmental approach with hands on activities.

As an advanced student in highschool algebra, my teacher chose me to tutor one struggling athlete and one girl trying to raise her B to an A for acceptance to an Ivy League University. In discovering their different learning styles, I was able to teach my students in a way they understood. Seeing the light in their eyes as they figured out a problem gave me a passion for teaching. After graduation, I taught on a transitional teaching license. I taught in the Woodburn School District. I then went to Japan and taught English as a second language.
