As an aerospace engineering student at Embry-Riddle, mathematics comes quite easily to me. I enjoy solving and creating mathematical problems. At Embry-Riddle I quickly became known as the "go to" guy for all math related questions. Within the first two weeks of the first semester I was leading a Calculus 2 study group and retained my position as such until the end of the semester. While the study group dwindled in size for Calculus 3 I did still lead the group.

I feel it is very important for the student to feel relaxed and confident when they are with me. To this end, I always give a few minutes of each lesson to personal contact, and chat with them a little about what is happening in their lives. I also encourage laughter and light-heartedness. I stress that it is OK to make mistakes. If they are having trouble grasping a concept I tell them it is because I have not explained it correctly and ask them to bear with me until I get it right. Because I have had so many different students with different learning styles, I have learned to adjust my teaching methods so kids will find a way to understand it. I enjoy grasping the subjects so well that I can explore new ways of teaching so that anybody and everybody will eventually get it.
