I began studying french in the 9th grade, became President of my high school's French Club my senior year, and then attended the University of PIttsburgh at Johnstown Majoring in Creative Writing while working on my French certification. When I work with others on writing papers, I always make sure to tell them why I suggest the changes I do. Making sure that they understand why I suggest a change is important. Reinforcing those rules while also pointing to an example on their own work always helps to show the students how to improve their own writing. I believe that showing them rather than telling them is a productive strategy to teaching composition and reinforcing the etiquette involved in essay writing. Pointing out these areas of improvement to the student on a one-on-one basis allows the student to learn and implement changes in the future.
