As a junior and senior finance major, I routinely tutored fellow classmates in several finance and business courses. As a junior I showed many of my classmates how to excel in several areas of business, such as, finance, accounting, human resources, and management. As a senior I tutored many of my friends and colleagues in many finance courses, such as, portfolio management, financial engineering, and personal finance. I've never tutored for pay, which shows how dedicated I am to helping people achieve their academic goals.
My teaching style is very simple, it's teaching people the concepts at hand in a manner they can understand, because some texts and instructions can be very confusing and over explained. I started my college career at Drake University as a Mass Comunications major. I changed schools and recieved a double major in Business and Economics. I have 3 kids 15,11,10 and have helped them extensively, and all are excellerated students. I enjoy helping kids understand their subjects and obtaining the power to master their learning potential.
I enjoy working with children, and believe that all kids have the ability to achieve anything. As long as their mentors can give them an extra boost to understand certain concepts their ability to accomplish their projects and earn exceptional grades are endless. In addition to my education and work experience, my teaching style derives primarily from my experience as a High School football coach. Coaching at all levels from middle school to high school has given mea unique perspective on seeing how different students learn and comprehend things. I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
