A Little Bit About Me...

I've always been a doodler. I began my professional debut as a free-lance editorial artist in 1992, while the national election raged on between then-president George H.W. Bush, Ross Perot and a young fellow from Arkansas, Bill Clinton. My caricatures loomed through the pages of the Salinas Californian for about two (2) years. At about the same time, I was a contributing artist for our church's newspaper, Maranatha. I have had the honor in having my caricatures displayed in the Houston Astroworld Six Flags amusement park before they closed their doors. I have been drawing hundreds of people throughout Texas and Arkansas through festivals or special events.
I put them on the spotlight from day one. Nobody gets to "hide" because I pick on everyone.

18 years of graphic design experience and still loving it to this day. I graduated from the Art Institute back in 1996 and I've had 5 jobs since then. I understand the demands of clients when creativity is needed and revisions that come with change. I always put my best abilities on the table no matter how small or large the project or compensation. As the sole designer for MRI, I dealt with all the printers regarding quotes and setting up files for final completion. I was in contact with all directors/supervisors for each of the eight different restaurant chains and managed all design material from start to finish. I’ve created all forms of print collateral using the latest Adobe programs as well as QuarkXpress and need little to no guidance completing projects. Abilities: • 18 years of graphic design experience • A keen eye for design, layout and color • Excellent knowled ... read more

My comments on tutoring Drawing : Graphite portraits.

I have a Masters of Library Science. I've been a Library Branch Manager and librarian in a public library for over 14 years, and have experience helping people from diverse backgrounds. I have successfully helped people with citizenship, resume writing, filling out job applications, interview skills, basic computer classes, database research, assembling bibliographic sources, writing, school reading lists, locating literary criticisms and helping with preparation of science fair projects. Published author under pseudonym.
I prefer the student to have a hands-on experience so that they can learn how to do the subject for themselves. I provide guidance, suggestions and best practices. I am patient, try to put the person at ease, and treat all people with respect.

Creative, innovative, and interesting lessons are my forte. I am experienced in providing a constructivist-based approach to knowledge acquisition. Hands-on lesson promote student involvement and increase the development of student responsibility towards their education. I have found that a cross-curriculum approach to the material being presented fosters true understanding and relevance.
I am a student of history and believe that knowledge acquisition comes from interest and enthusiasm on the part of the learner. This interest comes from having an instructor who them selves is a learner. A partnership in the tasks being presented usually results in the student wanting to understand the information and making connections. To promote critical thinking I present the material in a global manner, allowing the learner to relate the information/skill to the real-world.

I enjoy math and science and believe any student can excel in these subjects with the right instruction. I believe the best way to teach a student is through good communication and patience. Tutors need to be able to effectively communicate to their students in order to help them identify and overcome learning challenges. I believe each student learns at their own pace and deserves the guidance and opportunity to reach their full potential.
I am a recent graduate from The University of Texas at Austin where I earned a BS in Architectural Engineering. To prepare for college, I took advanced math courses in high school where I excelled and subsequently became a tutor in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. As an engineering student, I was required to take upper level courses in math and science. In addition to my experience as a math tutor, I also have experience tutoring ESL to chil ... read more
