A Little Bit About Me...

My B.A. is in History and Social Behavioral Science. This encompasses Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Economics and Political Science. After graduating second in my class with a 3.9 GPA, I started working for the Art Institute of Chicago. During the last five years, I have worked with children of all ages and at all developmental levels. I also have been responsible for grading coursework in all subjects in the classroom. In addition I have developed lesson plans for small groups. I tutored college level students in Spanish as part of my work study. With regard to my Language Arts credentiials, I was Student Life Editor in school and my History Major greatly enhanced these skills.

Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach. Learning can be and should be fun! I love teaching a student to success and when they enjoy what they are doing they are much more likely to succeed!

I have two kids and I understand how kids can sometimes struggle in school. I love to simplify the subjects to them. I also work on self confidence issues. A lot of kids struggle because the lack of confidence. I work closely with kids and make them feel comfortable so they can response better. I believe in repetitions. The more the kids can go over the problem the more confidence and knowledgeable they will be. I also like to teach the kids certain strategies when they solve problem or when they do test to get better and faster results.
