A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.

A Little Bit About Me...

While studying to obtain my two bachelor degrees, a BS in Biomedical Science and a BA in Chemistry, I have had many opportunities to develop my leadership, interpersonal, and tutoring skills. I was involved in several organizations at Texas A&M University that incorporated tutoring experiences and also worked for the university tutoring student-athletes. During the last 4-5 years, I have mentored/tutored younger students in math and reading, and have tutored college students in chemistry and biochemistry.
I am passionate and thrilled at the thought of teaching a child. Some of the educators I have been blessed with have given me inspiration and have left an everlasting impression that I will never forget. This is what I hope to offer in return. I believe I can relate material in a fundamental way so that the information is easier to understand. I am a visual learner myself, s ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am extremely patient and work hard to communicate the concepts that students need to understand to truly achieve their learning objectives. My belief is that a tutor, or any teacher, is a role model not only for understanding the subject at hand, but in the manner in which they work with students, using a tactful, understanding approach at all times. In general, I guide the student, using questions along the way to assess their level of understanding, in addition to exercises and problem-solving related to the subject.
I have a solid education, starting with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois and a Master's of Science from St Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. During my first two years of college, I excelled academically, allowing me to qualify as a tutor in algebra, calculus and physics for other college students. In addition, I honed my communicatio ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in high school, I decided upon attending Oklahoma State University, based upon the fact that OSU sponsored a high school scholastic competition, whereas OU was only known for football. If that does not make me boring enough, I represented my school and placed 8th in the state for Algebra. Not too bad for a small middle-class parochial school. Naturally enough, I was the best at my school. When I finally went to OSU, I studied Electrical Engineering, obtaining a Master's degree. How did I get to Texas? -- Texas Instruments of course!
I have two teenage sons, both of whom I have tutored through pre-AP Algebra, the oldest is in pre-Calculus this year. I tend to take a holistic approach, showing "why" the student needs to know the material, and "where" it fits in with other disciplines, instead of just "how" to do it.
