I have worked at Mingo Valley Christian School since 2010 in a variety of capacities: substitute teacher, teacher's aide, AIM tutor. I work mainly with lower elementary students on phonics and beginning reading, but I also have experience in teaching upper elementary reading and math. Depending on the students learning style and the subject, my teaching style will differ. If the student is a visual learner than I will create PowerPoints and other visual aids to help them. If the student is kinesthetic than I may create a project for them to do (if the parent is ok with it), or I may have them interact more during the tutoring than with the visual learner. I was accepted into AmeriCorps*NCCC, a community-based, government-run volunteer program upon my college graduation in 2003.
