My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : The past 25 years I have beenn teaching Reading, Language and Arts in the Oklahoma Public School System. I have a Reading Specialist Certificate and have taught small group interventions (5-6 students) which involved reinforcement with phonics skills: synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homonyms, pronunciation of letter sounds, identification of vowels,, consonants, vowel pals, and have worked a lot with English as a Second Language Students to help them learn the English language.

I spend a lot of time teaching small group interventions which focuses on the Reading Sufficiency criteria that is mandated by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. I have also worked with many Gifted and Talented students preparing them for Writing Contests. My passion is encouraging students to look forward to the Core Curriculum Test. My first year out of college I taught at an unaccredited private school, and then at an accredited day care center. The next 7 years were at a public school. While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life.
