A Little Bit About Me...

I am about to be a graduate with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. I have one year of tutoring experience from the Tutor Doctor franchise and have numerous success stories with high school level students. I have also tutored adult level students going into pre-nursing examinations. My engineering degree gives me the versatility to tutor math, physics, or chemistry either the high school level or college/adult levels.
Based on a 1-on-1 model I base my teaching on each individual student. I am easy going but do not let students slide by without knowing exactly what they are doing. Each session is utilized to the fullest. I strive for continuous improvement in my students which will hopefully translate into lifelong learning that occurs after I am done

A Little Bit About Me...

While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics. Also, the quantity of lab reports I have written has given me an advantage in writing non-technical reports along with technical reports. I have worked as a college math privately and through other companies.
My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.

I am easy going, energetic, very passionate (especially when teaching calculus and physics), and engaging. In most cases it takes only a few sessions and students are having fun. I believe that most students can understand mathematics with a proper explanation. For example, the order of operations is usually presented to students without explanation for its existence. This gives the false sense that it is an arbitrary rule. I enjoy sharing my understanding to students, but I also enjoy providing a role model for my students. If I show compassion to a students it is almost always reciprocated. Academic excellence is a virtue but so is being a kind and caring person. I like to spread this through my teaching style.
I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solvin ... read more

Each student has personal methods of learning that work best for them, and certain ways of doing things that do not work for them. I like to try and explain a concept to the student in different ways until that particular student feels at ease with the theory and idea behind the subject. Once the basic idea is well understood the reinforcement of the principle by means of problem solving can show the utility of the idea and how it may be used in real life.
As an engineer and attorney, I have tutored while a student in college and while mentoring technician candidates as they returned to school to obtain associate degrees in technical subjects. I also undertook to write a sylabus and class concept for two new classes on technical subjects that I had approved and taught at Massachusetts Bay Community College. In college I tutored students in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Engineer ... read more

I made counseled and guarded my peers in my area of study I also tutored in calculus 1 for a program by the division of science called City College Academic for Professional Preparation (CCAPP). I love teaching because it provides an opportunity for both teacher and student to learn new things. I also believe that by applying appropriate teaching styles, the most difficult subject can be very easy to the students. I believe in getting students involved in their studies by making it fun. I have always enjoyed both the humanities and sciences. At Virginia Tech, I majored in Philosophy and Minored in Statistics and Business. Next fall I am starting a masters program at Northeastern University for Industrial Engineering. I have substitute taught for the Hopkinton Public School system and the Auburn Public School system. I enjoy teaching students of all ages.
I feel that I excel in putting myself in the student's shoes. By trying to understand their thought process, I can best teach by making sure the student follows the logic of the subject. I have always believed that allowing the student to reach understandings through subtle guidance by the teacher is the best process. This method allows stu ... read more

As an undergraduate engineering student and tutor for engineering and other courses, I developed a strong background in the techniques and skills necessary in many levels of math, science, and technical writing. Additionally, the rigorous demands of engineering school have taught me the persistence, organizational ability, and other academic skills required of any tutor or student. My graduate study in special education, volunteer work, and experience as the brother of a child with special needs has given me a great deal of experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of issues which they face in academic settings. During the school year, I work as a learning specialist for college students with learning disabilities. This has helped me to understand more about differences among students' learning styles and improved my ability to be an effective tutor for stude ... read more

There is no uniquely perfect method for different students. I intend to think as a student and set different goals and solutions for different students. Additionally, I prefer more comprehension, through which the student can only get good comprehension of knowledge.I am a nice tutor, and always ends up good friends with my student. Actually I am still corresponding with my previous students and offering help to them now.
I got my bachelor's degree with concentration on statistics in Beijing Normal University, which is the best teacher training university in China, and received all rounded training to make a teacher. In summer of 2007, I joined a summer camp team and volunteer to tutor math in a far away high school. Currently i am working as teaching assistant in University of Connecticut. The evaluation from my college students is good enough.

I believe in order for success a student has to understand the basics in order to solve increasingly complicated problems in school. When tutoring I make sure that when a student is solving a problem they not only understand what they are doing but why they are doing it. I enjoy tutoring and helping others to understand something that may have given them problems. I am patient and easy going. I have tutored a wide range of students from middle school into college. When tutoring I strive to make I teach my students in ways that suite them best to help them remember the how and why to solving problems.
