Musical is one of my top subjects! Music is my specialty. i am well versed in five different instruments, I have taken all four years of music theory, and have a comprehensive knowledge of the subject, having written and perform several compositions.

I have always been a hands on learner, so that is mostly the way i portray my lessons, by doing, instead of readin. However i also see the need in having to sit down and Get to work, because some thing are better learned on paper

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and have indeed taught everything from basic reading to dance class. I have tutored people that range in age from five to age sixty-two. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn if he or she is taught in a way that makes sense to that individual. I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.

I believe the key to good teaching is understanding the subject from the student's perspective. As a teacher, it is easy to take for granted certain assumptions and prior knowledge that a student may lack. Each student brings a unique approach and starting point to the learning experience. The teacher's job is to find that starting point and lead the student from there to a place of deeper understanding and knowledge. If a student struggles to understand something, the teacher has probably "skipped a step" somewhere, and omitted some piece of the puzzle that the student does not yet have.
