I tutored before but of course I wasn't paid for it because it was at my old elementary school. I helped children from ages 8-13 which I was only 11 or 12 at the time. Try to customize to students intrest in order to keeep attention and make as entertaining as possible. Every child sees things from different eyes. I just teach them how to look. I know that as a student I would hear one explanation that all of a sudden made things so clear and seem so simple. I try to find this for every individual student.
I have helped students from my church for the past eight years in math science and english. I have also worked with my sisters first grade students in math. I enjoy working with youth. It is extremely rewarding to watch a child when that " i get moment" happens and their face lights up with pride, happiness and a sense of accomplishment.

A Little Bit About Me...

Through my years in my last position I was able to witness firsthand how different teaching styles worked well for different children. The one common factor was that if I could make it fun and add an element of hands on type activities the lessons were retained better. I enjoyed the process of getting to know my students and finding what helped them to achieve success. As they gained this success in the classroom they also gained more confidence in themselves. I am a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Music Education, having taken many education classes and completed a semester of student teaching at the elementary and high school level in Rhea County schools. My prior experience in teaching comes from over 5 years of teaching piano lessons to beginning through advanced students from age 4-adult. While at Bryan, I was a tutor for music theory students as well as assisted and edited English and literature papers and essays.
