With the fundamentals to algebra and the beginning concepts in geometry being introduced, students can struggle if their math foundation is not strong. It is important to address any difficulties before discouragement sets in. Specific weaknesses are sometimes masked, especially if scores are inconsistent; or if the student doesn't "test well"; or if the student generally struggles with organizational or basic arithmetic skills.
