A Little Bit About Me...

While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics. Also, the quantity of lab reports I have written has given me an advantage in writing non-technical reports along with technical reports. I have worked as a college math privately and through other companies.
My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.

I believe the key to good teaching is understanding the subject from the student's perspective. As a teacher, it is easy to take for granted certain assumptions and prior knowledge that a student may lack. Each student brings a unique approach and starting point to the learning experience. The teacher's job is to find that starting point and lead the student from there to a place of deeper understanding and knowledge.
