I stopped working in the hospitals when my oldest child reached the age of 5, so that I could teach my children at home. The four of them are now grown and successful. I employed many techniques during my time homeschooling them, as between them were exhibited several learning styles. It was a delightful experience.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! The pen is mightier than the sword! Through creative writing, students will feel the full benefit of this old-but-true statement. Students will look at the building blocks of story in order to better communicate themselves. Students will learn the power of flow and dynamic story in order to better communicate with others. Students will garner and awareness for the human condition in order to learn to write more powerfully.

Hands on, project based. Whether with a group or one-on-one, I consider learning to be best experienced when all five senses are utilized to their maximum potential. Students of all ages will learn through creative game play, creative projects, and creative writing.
Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system.
