Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! The pen is mightier than the sword! Through creative writing, students will feel the full benefit of this old-but-true statement. Students will look at the building blocks of story in order to better communicate themselves. Students will learn the power of flow and dynamic story in order to better communicate with others. Students will garner and awareness for the human condition in order to learn to write more powerfully.

Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city. I am well read and well versed in classical and current literature, with published articles and short stories to my credit. Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

I stopped working in the hospitals when my oldest child reached the age of 5, so that I could teach my children at home. The four of them are now grown and successful. I employed many techniques during my time homeschooling them, as between them were exhibited several learning styles. It was a delightful experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children should learn no matter what their ability or disability may be. There should be passionate teachers in the field to be able to take on the responsibility of helping children reach their full potential. As an educator, I nurture my students and provide an emotionally, stable atmosphere while maintaining high expectations for all. My goal is to instill the love and passion of learning in every student that I teach. I do not want to touch one life; I want to touch the life of every child that walks through my classroom door.
I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education.
