A Little Bit About Me...

As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. With a thorough knowledge of the material along with good organization, the process of learning can be creative and lively for both the student and the teacher.

My teaching style changes based on the learning style of my students. Some are more concrete and others are more abstract. I am comfortable teaching at all levels of both the cognitive and affective domains. I enjoy working one on one with students and tailoring lesson plans to help the student get the most out of a class. I typically introduce a concept or principle, describe why the principle is important, provide a variety of illustrations, then let the student try some exercises. I was born to teach. From 10 years old I would teach my friends during summer vacations or whenever I could get them to play my favorite game, school, (Kids don't play school anymore). I enjoy helping students make the connections. I use a teaching approach that is hands on and generally seeks to find atudents learning style. I know that all children can learn, it is sometimes a matter of how they learn that becomes a barrier.
