I started my nursing career over 20 years ago as a Licensed practical nurse. Several years later I obtained my BSN and most recently my MSN degree. My primary area of specialization has been Neonatal Intensive Care but I've worked in long-term care, home health, community health and education. Even though I love my babies I've developed a passion for education, especially when it comes to NCLEX preparation. I have classroom & clinical education experience and have worked with very diverse student populations.

With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above. In general a good teacher will be well planned and offers a delivery which teaches in concentrated bursts, with a brief break every 20 minutes. I am about to be a graduate with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. I have one year of tutoring experience from the Tutor Doctor franchise and have numerous success stories with high school level students. I have also tutored adult level students going into pre-nursing examinations. My engineering degree gives me the versatility to tutor math, physics, or chemistry either the high school level or college/adult levels. Based on a 1-on-1 model I base my teaching on each individual student. I am easy going but do not let students slide by without knowing exactly what they are doing. I really love teaching and finding different ways of using analogies and similarities to explain difficult concepts. I have been very successful in teaching the sciences and mathematics courses in an understandable way. I believe that everyone is capable of learning the material, it simply needs to be presented in the correct way. Some students are more verbal learners, others are more visual learners. I use plenty of paper to demonstrate ideas and draw diagrams to help make the material more understandable. As an MIT graduate, I was particularly driven to excel in science and mathematics courses so as to be able to apply these to engineering and technology problems. I subsequently obtained two doctorate degrees: one in medicine and the second in law. I am currently working on the development and patenting of medical devices to improve medical care for patients.
