A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Dance teacher, choreographer and performer as well as a Yoga instructor. I've been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for about 10. I received a Bachelor's in Dance from Brigham Young University in 2011, with an emphasis in Modern/Contemporary. Since graduating I've been teaching, choreographing and dancing professionally and will continue doing so for as long as is humanly possible. I teach mostly Intermediate/Advanced level tap, jazz, modern/contemporary (but am open to teaching all levels) and Beginner/Intermediate level ballet. I also teach Vinyasa Yoga and believe any type and level of dancer can improve tremendously physically and mentally through a Yoga practice. And, lastly, I play the piano on the side and have taught beginner level piano. I have 17 years of experience playing the piano and play for the children at church as well as the choir.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have just recently started to pursue my doctoral degree in educational leadership at University of Phoneix. I have always had a passion for mentoring, teaching, and advising young people. I have had tons of experience working with youth and mentoring them. At age 18, I even started a youth outreach ministry called Serenity Ambassadors for Christ reaching at risk teenagers through music and biblical teaching. At the same time, I was teaching and advising youth at my church and surrounding areas. I earned my Masters Degree in Theology and Counseling in May 2008 at Oral Roberts University.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with students and watching their growth and development academically. My approach to each student is different because I understand each will need a different approach. Initially with each student I identify his or her strengths and weaknesses with the material. While building on their strengths, I attempt to change their perspective towards the course material that seems difficult. For example, if a student is struggling with multiplication but has superior addition skills, I will use addition to help them understand multiplication.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for children. I have a degree in Child and Adolescent Development, and have spent the past year working with low-income preschoolers. I am also to spend the summer tutoring some of my former students to prepare them more amply for kindergarten and reinforce skills. In addition, I have been tutoring a co-worker in spanish. Because of my degree and experience, I am qualified to tutor algebra, basic biology, psychology, sociology and spanish to the intermediate level.
I am caring, kind, and like to break things down to explain them at the level that people are functioning on. While working on my undergrad I was given the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a freshman college level film theory and design class. During this opportunity I was responsible for grading the daily work of our students, as well as being a resource for the students design projects. I taught lectures based on film theory and design, as well as specific pieces of film.
I myself am a visual and auditory learner, so I am very open to all types of teaching styles. I find that people learn better when several avenues of learning are available for a subject.
