I am an Orton-Gillingham certified and Barton Advanced certified dyslexia specialist with over a decade of experience working with children and adults who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Social Studies and Creative Writing (English)

I am currently a Sociology student at Augsburg College. I am also pursuing a minor in Psychology. This year will be my last, so I will graduate in 2014. Also, I have taken several creative writing courses at the Loft Literary center, as well as at my College. I received a 4.0 in my courses. Also, in high school, I was always a level above in all English and composition classes.
I like to challenge people to think outside of the box. Although I know it is important to know how to take tests and write papers appropriately, I also know that showing skills that go above and beyond, is what makes a student stand out. My comments on tutoring Writing : I enjoy writing and the process involved and I would love the opportunity to help others see how much fun it can be to write and see your end product. Attending a private liberal arts college taught me to push myself to be the very best I could be. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics with an emphasis on Greek, and a minor in English. If for example we are doing a unit on weather then my students may role play a weather man. Gather vocabulary from a newspaper. Count change as if they were really buying something. Read and write from a reporters perspective, or even travel to a museum with a reoprt and description of things they have seen using adjective and adverbs for color and detail. I also believe reading should be taught at the appropriate reading level for comprehensions sake. If a reader is below the 98% error level, they will not succeed.
