I love teaching and working with children and also adults. I usually start by teaching the general mechanics of the instrument, demonstrating the different features of the guitar and how they work. I believe that it is paramount that students learn how to tune their instrument before they can play it. I show them the techniques of working the fretboard and how to produce a proper tone. I will then assess the students knowledge of basic music theory and proceed based on that knowledge.
My background is in music. My first formal training started taking piano lessons when I was eight years old. During my junior high and high school years I was in the band. My primary instrument was the trumpet. I also studied vocal music and took some classes in basic music theory. When I was seventeen years old I learned the guitar.
