A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching kids. All kids can are different in the way they learn. you need to be able to recognize those kids who are auditory learners, and hands on learners and be able to make a good balance of both so both kids may benefit. I like to set goals for each tutor session weather it be something like learning the alphabet or knowing you first ten multiplication facts. You then need to set one long term goal for that child to reach. this way each day they feel as if they have succeeded and learned something. I hope i can be an educator who can make just a little difference in children's lives.
I worked with Special Ed kids with reading, writing, and math. I tutored my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years of high school. My background is in music. My first formal training started taking piano lessons when I was eight years old. During my junior high and high school years I was in the band. My primary instrument was the trumpet. I also studied vocal music and took some classes in basic music theory. When I was seventeen years old I learned the guitar. I am self taught on that instrument and have played it daily for thirty two years. I started performing professionally in local bands in 1988. After getting a general grasp of the instrument I began teaching privately and have done so intermittently over the years.
