I believe all children have potential to learn. I always try to find the best approach for teaching each child. I believe in positive reinforcement and giving a child a feeling of accomplishment after they have experienced so many feelings of failure. Teaching a child one on one is a much needed teaching method for a lot of children. I try to make learning fun and I love to see the light bulb pop on in their little minds!
I have taught public school in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years. I retired May 2010. I have taught grades 1-6 in All subject areas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1983 from Auburn University. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Troy State University at Montgomery in 1990. In my experience teaching a wide range of ages and children from very different backgrounds, I have seen how all students can thrive in an academic setting with the right instructional strategy. All students learn differently; some need their assignments read aloud, while others prefer to read alone. Some learn better by hearing what is being taught, while others prefer to learn with visual aides. Some thrive on group and peer assignments, while others prefer to work alone or one-on-one with the teacher.
