I earned my BS in Finance through the College of Business Administration which enabled me to gain experience in different subjects such as math, economics, accounting, information systems, and marketing. I also used to tutor other, younger students when I was in high school.
I am a very understanding and considerate person and my teaching style reflects that. I have been counseling a week-long church camp in southern California for the past 5 years now and I absolutely love doing it. The ages are 9-12 and I look forward to it every year. I have also worked with older children when I worked at the Boy's and Girl's Club. I definitely believe a successful tutor can really change the life of a young adult by stressing the importance of education. Sometimes all it takes is hearing it from a different person in a different perspec ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in Secondary Math Eduation. I just completed my semester of internship in high school mathematics. My position was as a long-term sub, which means that I was in full control of my students and my classroom without another teacher. Basically acting as a teacher while also doing my internship. As part of the job I was also responsible for tutoring my own students, as well as students from other classrooms.
I like teaching by giving real life examples and creating hands-on situations. One of the most beneficial things that I have found in helping students is to give a variety of examples and offer different ways of explaining things. Another important thing, especially with math, is the ability to be patient.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an MBA student, I constantly had to conduct research in challenging fields, write reports, train others and make appropriate recommendations. I have particularly enjoyed carrying on tasks that required teaching others, presenting personal research and challenging specific teaching styles. As a substitute teacher, I have developed my teaching skills and became able to adapt to the different educational level, schools, communities etc. From my professional experience, I learned to be a team leader, to focus on the delegated task, to prioritize and to reward results.
I am a parent and I understand that educating our children is a priority. Although challenging, I particularly enjoy working with children, teaching them as well as learning from them. I believe that what makes me a good teacher is my ability to listen, understand a child's outlook on things and my constant focus ... read more

I have had the wonderful pleasure of teaching children for quite some time. Just as I do, each child learns in their own way. I work to find examples from my own educational experiences that will show them that I empathize with their need as well as to help that light bulb go on for them. It is wonderfully fulfilling to see that happen. I have also had the privilege of being married to a piano teacher who teaches one on one and to learn from him and his teaching styles suited to each individual student.
The setting as a Sunday school teacher is different than the usual classroom experience. However, the parents and elders expect results and it is very satisfying to see the children respond with good answers and, especially, with good questions for me. I have learned so very much from my students. I have taught and encouraged little ones from toddlers to 12 years of age, both ... read more

During my undergraduate work I was a teacher’s assistant (T.A.) for two years. As a T.A. it was my job to run physics for other undergraduates. This included both the calculus based physics and non-calculus based physics. I also worked with an elementary teacher as part of an outreach program to bring science into the class room. Two times a week I would travel to the class room and teach the kids (4th graders) science. Having a BS is physics gives me a great foundation in math.
Having a degree in physics gives me excellent problem solving skills. Combined with my interest in philosophy I have the confidence to tackle any problem, boil it down to the basic question and from there show each step to the student. There are many different ways to explain math and science concepts, and problems. With the background I have it gives me a good grasp of the material, and this allows me t ... read more

I am an extrovert, personable, intelligent, and am not limited to one specific style of teaching. Moreover, having an extensive background in sports(collegiate athlete/captain), I have developed and improved a critical attribute which allows me to personalize my teaching/instruction style based on understanding/knowing how various individuals think. Overall, I want to make an impact by allowing other students to have the opportunity to receive a strong education provided by individuals that care.
