A Little Bit About Me...

We are a team of experienced teachers and tutors each specializing in our own subject strengths. We provide excellent customer service, possibly immediate or same day for homework help or project completion. Online tutoring is also available with a shared online whiteboard for step-by-step problem solving. We strive to get to the root of the problem be it a test-taking challenge or a problem with foundational concepts. Not very fond of your teacher? Unfortunately, this is often the case. We follow your own pace of learning to achieve results. We love the moment when a student finally understands a topic and starts building self-confidence. UCLA: Math/Science/Computers/Executive Functions

I'm a graduate of UCLA Engineering with a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 14 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success! EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING: Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attributed to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up w ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Hello, I'm a senior at Canyon High and a valedictorian of my class of 2013. I have taken over 10 AP tests (with scores of 4 or 5 on all of them) and succeeded in getting 2340 on the SAT. As you can see, I am a hard worker with a purpose in my mind. Some people may argue that good grades do not necessarily predict great tutoring skills. But no worries. I have some experience in tutoring: I tutored my peers and middle school students at church and at school in AP Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I, Geometry, and Spanish.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe every student can be successful at math. It begins by being patient and friendly, finding out what the student knows and then finding exactly where he/she is having a problem and starting with that concept and breaking it down until it makes sense. My favorite part of teaching and tutoring is when the student finally "gets" it and from there math can become fun and easy. Or at least much less intimidating.
I unexpectedly began teaching a math class in 1997; the combination of enjoying teaching and being so successful at it eventually led me to go back to school to become a full time math teacher. As a student I became a tutor at a community college and a university as well as tutoring elementary, junior high and high school students at a local after-school tutoring center. I enjoy helping students of any age learn math and become confident with it.

More About This Tutor...

I taught at Mira Costa College for several years in such subjects as business law, accounting, finance, business math, personal finance, etc. I also over the years was a paid lecturer and educator for various businesses, presenting issues on tax laws effecting sales reps at annual conventions, reengineering and cross training companies empoyees on business subjects, etc.
I have a relaxed, patient, and easy style. It is more important for the student to learn and understand the subject than it is for formalities of the student /professor relationship that many want to employ. A teacher who can educate his student in an open back and forth relationship not only helps his students learn, but learns from the students.

More About This Tutor...

It is my belief that language proficiency stems from extensive practice. Although I see my Japanese language skills as a useful tool in helping other Japanese speakers learn English, I feel that conversing in English and explaining concepts in English as much as possible leads to greater language advancement. Most Japanese adults already studied English in junior high and high school, so it is necessary to access their prior knowledge. As Japan is a somewhat reserved culture, it is necessary to provide a comfortable, relaxing environment to help students not feel self-conscience when trying to converse in English. Creating a safe learning environment is my foremost objective when tutoring.
As a second language learner, I am keenly aware of the challenges in learning a new language. I am a native Japanese speaker, although I have attended a language school in Australia, and com ... read more
