Understanding the subject is understanding the student

I myself have add and dyslexia, so I know both ways to teach to kids with mental disabilities and ways to reach without. My teaching style varies from student to student based on how I see they respond.I like to meet with the student before we start scheduling lessons to understand who they are as a person and a student. I am dedicated to creating a curriculum personalized to them.
I have experience with children from my 1 year working at Main Event Entertainment, my 4 months at PuttPutt Fun House, and my current volunteer work teaching Sunday school at my religious Hindu temple. Through my teaching style I emphasize hands-on learning by using manipulatives. I also use modeling and repetition. I believe the best way to learn something is to practice doing it yourself over and over again using various methods. Practice makes permanent! I enjoy incorporating fun and games into education because I believe learning should be fun!
