As stated above I enjoy working with children of all ages, I have made a difference in their lives as well as them making a difference in my life. All students, regardless of race, gender, learning disability, socioeconomic status, and cultural group, are capable of learning, especially if they have a good teacher. As an educator, I believe that I must be willing to step outside the norm to meet the diverse needs of students, in order to effectively reach them. This implies that I try a variety of approaches. Good teaching involves starting at the child’s level. Teaching that is too confusing, or not challenging enough, will only be a disservice. Simply getting to know the students prior to teaching is a start. I believe doing simple things, such as modifying reading assignments or making sure special learners have the appropriate accommodations will help students be successful.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a vocational expert/counselor I have taught, trained,and tested (interest, IQ, aptitude etc) both clients and employees. I worked with average intelligence adolescents and adults. I also assisted the special education teacher at Hanover Learning Center (approximately 7 years)working with mild and moderately impaired adolescents in the classroom. In the vocational and job placement responsibilities, I coordinated, and assisted/taught client to help them obtain their GED.
Naturally I would set goals and objectives (Independent Educational Plan). Depending if the individual's assets or deficits (weaknesses) would determine my teaching style. It was determined by the type of approach that would benefit the individual best. Some people are visual versus audtory, or hands on learners.

My mathematical, grammatical, presentation and writing skills were honed. I have volunteered in the classroom and with the resource teacher at my older daughter's elementary school. In 1986, I earned an MA and began working with adults as a trainer. In 2009, I volunteered as a reading resource working with second graders.
