A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate I have done tutoring to enhance my credibility to teach possibly in the future with my major in criminal justice. I'm currently enrolled for my Masters in criminal justice and criminology, and I plan to futher my education to teach within that field. During the last past 3 summers I have tutored young children as well as been a mentor to their studies. I enjoy working in this field of study, and plan to continue to do so.
As stated above I enjoy working with children of all ages, I have made a difference in their lives as well as them making a difference in my life. I am presently working as a high school instructional assistant and have been since 2008. For the past two summers, I have also had the opportunity to work for the summer school program, assisting students in the algebra classroom. I had my first full year teaching experience as a seventh grade special education teacher, during the 2007-2008 school year. So far, I have accumulated 15 credits in the Reading Specialist Masters Program, and am working towards certification. My highest level of completion is a BS degree in Secondary Special Ed. As a vocational expert/counselor I have taught, trained,and tested (interest, IQ, aptitude etc) both clients and employees. I worked with average intelligence adolescents and adults. I also assisted the special education teacher at Hanover Learning Center (approximately 7 years)working with mild and moderately impaired adolescents in the classroom. In the vocational and job placement responsibilities, I coordinated, and assisted/taught client to help them obtain their GED.
Naturally I would set goals and objectives (Independent Educational Plan). Depending if the individual's assets or deficits (weaknesses) would determine my teaching style. It was determined by the type of approach that would benefit the individual best. Some people are visual versus audtory, or hands on learners.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've always enjoyed tutuoring others because of the joy I get from seeing them learn new things. I love to see them experience a sense of accomplishment. Knowing that I could be part of their success, is a feeling that is undescribable.
I was a parent volunteer in my children's elementary school for 4 to 5 years. I was a substitute teacher in grades 1 thru 4. I tutuored my two children for two years.
