I hold a Ph.D. in biomedical science - focused on molecular virology. I believe that stimulating conversation and allowing people to arrive at answers on their own and through experience is the best way to form lasting connections. I took a variety of Biology classes and Labs at WPI mostly focused on Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I recently finished my PH.D. where I studied control of viral gene expression. This work encompassed a variety of biological disciplines including virology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, all of which I am quite experienced in. I also have experience teaching in a seminar format as well as in small groups. As a senior graduate student I was responsible for leading discussions prior to invited speaker seminars.

I have been fortunate to teach biology to undergraduates for nearly forty years. I am passionate about making sure my students not only excel in the courses they take, but are prepared for a world in which the biosciences (especially the molecular biology of the genome & DNA!)will form the basis of medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, and major technological breakthroughs in environmental science. While I'm dedicated to helping my students learn how to handle multiple choice and standardized tests, I'm also committed to making sure they can communicate their understanding in essay/term paper form.
