Experience includes teaching in public and private schools prior to and following tutor certification. Research for Tutor Certification focused on the study and analysis of adult learning problems stemming from poor learning and education experienced of youth. The study included exchanging past negative experiences for positive ones which substantially increases current abilities and progress. College Algebra students were in the study. While my credentials include college level learning, my experience is not exclusive to that level. I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. In order to achieve my goal, I spend quality time in talking and developing an effective communication platform. I was also a 2nd Lead for Birthday Party. Fall 2007 - Volunteered as a Mentor at Missouri City Middle School. I tutored 6th grade student for TAKS Preparation class. Before I began my professional teaching career, I worked for the Read Across America program helping young learners gain an appreciation for reading. I mentored elementary students who were labeled at risk due to low performance in reading. In 2001, I began teaching pre-k in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2005, I relocated to Houston and began teaching kindergarten in Ft. Bend ISD. I taught 4th grade Math and Science for 2 years. Currently, I work as a 2nd grade ESL inclusion teacher. My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I am experienced in teaching all elmentary subjects and I know what it takes to help a student grasp the material and relate to it all.

First, I like to determine a student's learning styles. Not all student learn the same. There are visual learners who learn by looking and writing. There are tactile learners who learn by doing and moving around (hands-on activities), then there are auditory learners who learn from hearing the information. I accommodate all styles int he classroom, but when tutoring, I assess the child by doing a learning style inventory which allows me to determine what style that particular child has. For visual learners, we use the basic paper and pencils, they watch me work. I model problem solving for them and then monitor them. For tactile learners, we pull out materials we can use our hands to work s with.
