I have taught virtually every subject at every level (K-12) over the course of 25 yrs. It has been my conviction to provide every student with the best education possible, regardless of the subject; thus, I have taken numerous post-graduate courses, and I possess a personal library of approximately 4,000 books. I am particularly interested in and concerned about teaching students to read. I have read extensively and done some successful tutoring in this area. My teaching style is about positive feedback and patience. With my experience in psychology I have found that a calm nurturing environment lends itself to bolstering understanding for children. Also, a calm environment allows a child the ability to think without excessive distraction. Everyone learns in their own personal way and as a mentor I would like to help foster that. As a college graduate and a mentor at a behavioral health facility I have gained valuable knowledge and confidence in one on one guidance. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for. I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.
