I was working in the mainstream line and realized that there were children who were slow learners or in other words needed to be taught in a way they could learn.I explored and educated myself on those lines.I am currently working in an organization which caters to such children.Patience and empathy works wonders with these children.Each student is unique and has his/her style of learning.Each case of dyslexia is unique because it results from a combination of an underlying talent, or predisposition, and from environmental influences and unsuccessful learning experiences. My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I am a special education teacher and have worked with a couple students with Dyslexia.

From my experience, I have realized that students learn faster and retain the information they learned longer if a tactile, hands-on approach is used. Currently, I teach K-5 students, and no matter what I'm teaching, I try to turn it into an educational game where the students are up and moving and having fun while learning. Each one exceeded my expectations and learned far more than anyone could have imagined. I truly believe in finding the style of learning that suits each student, and pursuing that particular route. And I have found that you can include each learning style by using a tactile approach. It is extremely simple to add in visual and auditory components within hands-on activities. The first thing I would want to know about my students is how do they learn. This would allow me to develop lesson plans that would be meaningful and productive to them. Another area that I feel is necessary would be their current abilities. Doing curriculum-based assessments would allow me to align and differentiate the curriculum to their levels.
