A Little Bit About Me...

Thanks to my education in psychology at Brown University, I have gleaned much wisdom about the workings of human behavior as well as the human psyche. I have been able to observe applications of what I've learned throughout my daily life. This is especially helpful in teaching; I can recognize the various personalities and the accompanying learning styles in the students, which enable me to be able to appropriately adjust how I present the material. Since I was 17, I've been tutoring and teaching a broad range of ages, from young tykes, to professionals, to retirees.
Teaching is one of my great passions. I thoroughly enjoy overcoming the initial hurdles as the children are hesitant to receive me as a teacher, and to see them open up to me. I am a dynamic teaher who believes in a hands on, interactive approach to teaching. Lots of give and take, as well as open ended questioning. The importance of learning vs. teaching is a constant in my method. A student asked me once, was my job to pass, or fail everyone. I responded that my job was to educate.
I have taught Science (Bio. & Chem.), and Early Childhood Ed. now at three different Colleges, for a total of 5 years combined, as well as having been an Early Childhood Educator for a total of 5 years. I also spent two years teaching wilderness education whilst employed by the United States Forest Service as a Wilderness Ranger.
