I am a passionate and experienced teacher with background in many subject areas. Environmental Biology was my BA major; it included work in botany, zoology (especially but by no means exclusively marine invertebrates) and ecology as well as chemistry, English, physiology and anatomy. I am a musician, an artist, a poet and a naturalist. I have over nine years of experience teaching in institutions throughout the country, such as museums and science centers. I hold a BA and MA, both of which are in the field of Biblical Studies. My research experience and written-communication skills have measureable depth because of the years I have invested in constructing essays, articles, and research papers; including my final MA project which was over 40 pages with a 15-page annotated bibliography (over 4500 pages of reading). During the last 3 years as a Pastor, I served in a tutoring capacity as well in our church’s after-school learning center. My role there was to assist children in grades 2-11 with homework, reading, and writing. Given the proper environment and method(s), any student can and will learn. I began teaching at Hesperia Christian in 1995. First, I substituted and then taught part-time, two to four subjects a year: Advanced Math and Drama, 5 years; Biology, 1 year; and Advanced Drama, 3 years. When my son started seventh grade, I began homeschooling. I taught Earth and Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Grammar, Vocabulary, English Composition, British and American Literature, Geography, American and World History, Ethics, Social Studies, Government, Sign Language, and Bible.
