I retired last year (2008) after 30 years as a Public Servant (law enforcement) with the City of San Diego. I have also retired from the Naval Reserve as a Master-At-Arms Chief in 2006. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with small children to adults, teaching English and school subjects. I work best with pre-teens- adults, however have no problem teaching small children. Tutoring is important for me because many times during my educational career I have needed tutoring myself, in regards to language barriers.
During high school I attended a special program, Health and Medical Occupations Academy, developed for students who wanted a career in the medial field. My approach to tutoring is that all students want to learn, even if they act otherwise. It is my job to make the subject more relevant, interesting and understandable for them. I assume everyone is capable of learning the material and try different ways of introducing and reinforcing information until it sinks in. I believe parents have a hard enough job, and it is sometimes best for someone else to tackle school subjects where the kids are not thriving.
