Dyslexia is one of my top subjects!

I worked for 12 years as a Special Education teacher in the public school system, teaching students with ADD, learning disabilities, autism, Aspergers, emotional and behavior disorders, and mild intellectual disabilities in a resource room and inclusion setting. I am able to quickly make significant connections with the students, building the good rapport that is essential to achieving a good working relationship. I especially enjoy working with reluctant and struggling readers, and nothing makes me happier than to see them overcome the obstacles that have kept them from success.

As a graduate of Columbus State University, I have been driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a teacher's certification in Special Education. The certification, along with the experience gained, has enabled me to gain an understanding of the disabled and at-risk student. Over the past eleven years I have learned and employed various teaching strategies that have aided in the success of my students. My passion is to teach and work with children. Although I believe that all students are capable of learning, I am certain that students learn in different ways. As a good educator, I am charged with the challenge of presenting the lesson so that it suits the students individual learning style.
