I graduated high school in 2008. I then attended West Ga Tech., for over a year. I majored in technical communications and took numerous computer classes. I love computers and Math. Those are my two favorite subjects but I am pretty well rounded, there's not much I can't do. I'm very self motivated and enjoy helping people better themselves. I work full time right now as a staffing agent, helping people get jobs. I'm only 22 recently out of college so most of the school subjects are still fresh in my memory.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a huge advocate of learning 'why' something happens vs 'how' it happens. In mathematics, anyone can learn a formula, an expression, or an equation if they look at it enough times, but they would not know how to apply it in real life situations. However, if a students learns the application of the formula and how it works, bigger chances they will remember it or can derive it when recalling the information. Learning the 'why' WILL lead to learning the 'how'
I have excelled in mathematics going all the way back to elementary school. Studied general mathematics in college. Have tutored at least 20 students on a variety of subjects in math, outside of school involvement. Worked in the math tutor lab at CSU during enrollment. I have tutored students in middle school and below on general subjects also (i.e science, social studies, english, etc).

With a BA in Middle Grades Education, I began my teaching career 10 years ago. All ten years have been in 8th grade math, teaching pre-algebra, algebra, and advanced algebra. I have also tutored lower grades and just completed tutoring an adult, from algebra through pre-calculus, who also wants to begin her career as a teacher. I spent 6 years in the Marines and many years working in other fields such as medical and insurance, which I have found to be great resources to connect math to real life.
Teaching children and adults has always been a passion of mine. My many years of working in various jobs before I became a teacher has given me many resources to pull from to make math come to life. It has also taught me that each student is different and may not understand the concepts presented in the same way, so I am always ready to explain things in many different ways to be sure a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During college, I swam varsity, an experience that taught me the patience and time management required to balance a rigorous academic schedule with the physical strain of a full-time sport. Later, I found that my personality and ability to work well with others was more helpful out of the water. During my 4th year, I coached the club swim team, and then moved up to assistant coaching the varsity team during my 5th year. I was able to understand the difficulties students were having and helped them with their work as well as helping them manage their schedules. There is no reason success cannot be achieved if given the proper motivation and the right guidance. Helping students be able to help themselves has been my greatest satisfaction.
During high school I worked as a volunteer in St. Petersburg, Florida through All Children’s Hospital. Within the Bedside Buddies Program, I was ab ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently recieved a BS in Biology from Fort Valley State University in May 2010. I am a graduate of an accelerated program called the Cooperative Developmental Energy Program, which is a program that focuses only on the math and science fields and also required me to earn my BS in 3 years while maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above. In addition, I have worked as a childcare provider during the summers at a daycare center where I was required to help create and carry out lesson plans to ensure that the children did not lose what they had learned during the school year.
I believe that in order the hlp children learn, patience is required. I am willing to take my time and make sure that of the concepts are truly learned and not just memorized. During my years in college I have learned that if something is just memorized it will not stick with you, but if you really learn and unders ... read more
