A Little Bit About Me...

Eight years ago my nephew became part of the Arizona juvenile system. Having dealt with all that entails, I made the decision to make a difference in childrens lives. It is my belief that children need positive role models in their life beyond the mother and father. I was lucky to have such role models in my life and would like the opportunity to be one myself. I have laid back attitude, have raised two sons that have become two wonderful, respectful teenagers with a bright future in front of them. I love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe in encouraging children to discover what they are to learn instead of rote learning for most things, and I also believe in establishing automaticity for some tasks, such as math facts and geometry theorems. I believe that all children are capable of learning with the right approach. It is important to persist in teaching a concept from different angles until the child "gets it."
