I am a senior history and anthropology major at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I minor in Classics (Latin and History) and German. I have studied Spanish since 2013. I studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria and Aachen, Germany in Summer 2015. I visited the Yucatán for a month in 2014 to use my Spanish skills. I am currently doing research with a professor with a digital aspect on Archaic Greece.

Spanish is one of my top subjects! High School Spanish 1-3 and College Spanish 2-4

I don't really have a teaching style because I have never been an actual tutor before. But, I love helping people and I always helped my friends with homework, especially in math. I am not the kind of tutor who will just give you the answers, I like to make you think about the problem and come up with your own answer. If the answer is wrong, I will ask you to look again and see where you made mistakes and, if needed, I will point them out for you. I really want to help you learn and grow so, eventually, you won't need a tutor.
I'm am a current college student at Nebraska Wesleyan University. I graduated from Malcolm High School with high honors (3.948 GPA) and I currently have a 3.6 GPA (I've found college is a little harder than high school). I am currently a student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. I have obtained my bachelors in Spanish already but I wont graduate till 2015 because I am going for my bachelors in Psychology also. I am fluent in spanish. Spanish was my first language and did not learn english until I had to in pre-school. I have visited Ecuador many many times so I have been experience with the colloquial language in latin american countries. I love the language of spanish and being immersed in the culture. I am a patient person while tutoring others. I have tutored many of my friends through out my years in school!

I love the one-on-one part of teaching. Connecting with kiddos, seeing the light bulb turn on in their faces. One of the reasons I am no longer teaching is the special ed paperwork was getting to take up more time than the teaching was. Plus I now have 2 small children at home. I really miss the one-on-one part of teaching. I know there is more than 1 way to teach every concept in math! Showing a kid this, is very important! Also showing them that it's okay to be scared! That all it takes is some patience and someone to guide you though it and math can be conquered!!!

A Little Bit About Me...

I try to employ "active learning" with call and response lecturing. I also encourage students to identify how they learn, by noting their own strengths such as linear or circular thinking. I also help them identify how they learn the best and encourage research, research, research as well as using games and multiple approaches to difficult concepts. I've been a college adviser and lecturer for the since August of 2003, so I'm patient, caring, concerned, but able to impart discipline and organization skills. I hold students to high expectations, but I coach them into understanding how to recognize their strengths and weaknesses. I care about them, and they respond.

I see teaching as a dialog between teacher and student and adjust the speed and depth of my teaching to best help the student succeed. Most importantly I want to the student to leave with a greater understanding of the subject than when they entered.
I taught recitation for Honors Differential Equations, Differential Equations, Calculus 3, Calculus 2 and Introduction to Computer Science as an undergraduate at Georgia Tech and physics and astronomy labs as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee.
