A Little Bit About Me...

Because I have substituted at all grade levels and with all ability levels, I know how different each and every student learns. It is important to first get to know the individual and ascertain what techniques will work best for them. Mutual respect is very important. A major key to learning success is confidence. If you show the student respect, they will have more confidence in themselves. Children have a way of giving adults exactly what they think the adult wants or expects. If you expect the student to succeed they will be more apt to work toward that goal.
For the past five years I have been a substitute teacher for MSAD 58. Grade levels I have experience with include K through 12. I believe teachers have an ethical responsibility to create a learning environment that engages students into learning. I believe that students being engaged in learning is critical not only to students achieving the learning outcomes, but also is also an important aspect of retaining the information they learn. Learning environments where students are engaged in learning are achieved through good classroom management, dynamic teaching, and through evaluating and reflecting on teaching practices.
