I have began to help students in the 1960s when I was a grade school student adn when I volunteered at Get Set, where my mother worked as a full time teacher assistant. Later, I worked as a councilor as a summer-time employee of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania school system. I also volunteered, in the 1980s and the 1990s, at the Chapter Two Program of the YMCA and I volunteered as a tutor in the PASCEP program of Temple University in the 1990s. My style is based on the student's manner of learning and it is based on repetition of various materials. First, I allow the student to tell me what she or he knows about the subject. From that I can see what he or she has maintained and what style of learning fits the student best.
