I took many Art classes in which I excelled at. I then took some Computer Technology classes and I loved it. So I figured I would put the two together and took Graphic Design classes. I loved it. As a student working towards a Mathematics degree, very quickly I migrated away from the applied and into the pure, theoretical, aspects of Mathematics. Being familiar with math from several different pure standpoints (Topology, Algebra, and Analysis) I understand the benefit of being taught a concept from different viewpoints.
