I have just completed a Master's Program in the Arts of Teaching at Sacred Heart University. I completed 10 weeks of student teaching where I took on all the responsibilities of a full time 7th grade English teacher. Throughout all of high school and college I worked with children ages 3-15 and taught them how to swim in a Massachusetts accredited program in my hometown. My experience in the field of tutoring is personal. I do not have formal previous experience with a formal institution that provides me with students to tutor- instead- my love and passion for reading, writing and literature in general has driven me to tutor friends and family concerning this subject matter. I excel at developing a rapport with my students. They realize that I am the tutor/teacher but they also know they can talk to me and feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I find that appropriate types of praise seem to help a lot. I also exercise a great deal of patience and try to interject humor when appropriate.
